Most disappointing/best manga turned anime?

Post by Alexander on Thu Feb 11, 2010 3:06 am

Was just wondering if any of you had read a manga then watched the anime(or vice versa) and felt like it was a total let down?

For me, Suzuka was the most disappointing manga turned anime series. It might just be because Suzuka is my favorite manga but I felt like all the emotions of the characters were delayed and the anime was more of a slide show than a TV show half the time. (Does it get better after the first episode?) I also didn't like the voices/animation of a lot of the characters. Was, again, probably just because the manga was so awesome.

The best one for me was to-LOVE-ru. I loved this anime and the ecchi-goodness just made it better

EDIT: Right forum? Sorry if it isn't

well, both formats of media have their merits. Manga is great at making the audience ponder and thinks for themselves, which increases the suspense and drama; while anime is more engaging and action packed.

Thus, drama and romance are usually better in manga (although white album 2nd season anime kicked ass), and action series are usually more awe-inspiring in animated form (e.g. Gurren Lagann).

True enough, I just felt like the manga was superb for Suzuka and the anime was sub par compared to other animes (including other dramas)

Guess kind've like books when turned into movies and the movies are low budget, badly done etc.

I once read Love Hina... I think there were to many random stories.
Don't misunderstand, I thought the stories were really good and I had fun reading them, but it just were to many after all.
All in All thought the Manga was awesome, cool, interesting, etc.

However after i finished Love Hina (Needed all in all 4 days ... ^^) I dared to watch the Love Hina anime because I was interested myself and a friend said it's good.

I've never finished it. To be true I did only watch the first 3 episodes of it. I stopped looking cause there was a random guy, I've never seen in the Manga, crashing with an Helicopter into the inn and babbling about being in love with Naru. o_O
Then after that Haru even flew with him to school o_O She never would have done it in the Manga o_O

After that my desire for that, no, for every Anime was shattered to pieces....
That was a year ago I think. Till yesterday I've never again watched an Anime

To me I usually consider if the manga was original, and adapted into an anime, then the manga is usually better. I feel the same way with an original anime.

The manga came out first. I've seen some episodes of FMA but I haven't read the manga yet. I liked anime and I think its a pretty good story so I might start reading the manga soon.

same here... love hina's anime was such a let down compared to the manga i stopped after like 5 episodes and re-read the manga lol

though the best manga-anime for me was history's strongest disciple... if i recall correctly everything was almost exact.

For me, rosario + vampire anime was most disappointing. Not that it was bad, it was good in its own respect but all the action from the manga that I was expecting was missing from it.

The best for me is cross game. The anime closely follows the story and is as good as manga.
