and i dont even think you need to ask "what happens to rion" - as the mate of the protagonist, there's no way she'll die this early on in the manga.

Actually that's not really true... I've read many manga series like this[or similiar in theme] where you believe the characters are safe becuase they are close to the main character, but they still die early on. Usually it's to set the tone that no one is safe and that they can all die at anytime.

If Rion was to die now, the tone of the series would be thrilling. You would never know who would get next and whenever something happened that you thought 'oh they're safe, their a main character' you'll immediately change that thought after remembering Rion.

Personally I think it's a little early for Rion to be dieing, but then again it could really cause the story change.

With that said I really HOPE she lives... They need to grow closer and form a deep bond before one of the four [Akira, Rion, Mariya, and Oomori] dies. But that's my opinion as a writer myself.

Now it's possible to make such a theory,

Sengoku will become tough guy which will give a hiding different dangerous nutters and animals under influence of this events, he will be a man who is ruling with a heavy hand but Akita with a sense of guilt will become his reverse... Two islands - two leaders... Confusion.

But we don't know now how they are where are...

I can't wait until all the people that don't think to highly of Akira see what he's really like. I can foresee Akira being the leader of a large group.

I'm also looking forward to see how the everyone reacts when they find out that Akira's friend was the one that stabbed the pilot.
